Default S2 RST Scorpian exhaust. Silencing?

Just wondered if anyone had ever done this. I love the sound and look of my exhaust, but its quite booming inside the car at certain revs and my little boy seems to get bothered by it so days out in it as a family aren't as nice as they could be.

I know alot of jap cars have a removeable bung, much like some motorcyle sports cans.

Has anyone done this before? Would it adversely effect the spool up/performance etc?
Not that it would be that much of an issue. as soon as I'm on my own it would be removed.

Scorpion exhausts are quite restricted inside as the bore in the back box is small ,may be better switching to a mongoose, larger internals
