Talking Having some fun with Titanium this week

I started producing some pieces in Grade 5 Titanium this week

Its really great stuff to machine... It does take quite a bit longer,... but so strong and light!
Once heated we was getting some lovely colours, beats the day in day out of cutting alloys all day

Chris

How easy is it to weld? I'm guessing tig but does it act like steel, stainless, ally etc?

I bet the material for the parts in the bottom picture wasn't cheap.

I held a full titanium exhaust in my hand once. The weight difference between a stainless equivalent was beyond belief !

Just a pity the damn stuff is so expensive !

Dont suppose you'd have the ability to CNC replicate a turbo compressor wheel Chris ? ( not from titanium though lol. )

Lovely stuff to weld, but it must be 100% clean, and were the weld temp is, must be always covered in gas, TIG yes.
