Default Halfords Trade Card and batteries

I need a new battery and got an email from Halfords today saying they offer unbeatable trade deals on batteries and wipers, but no prices.

Their website shows a Bosch silver at £115 retail, but the same battery is available elsewhere at £78 delivered.

Is the Halfords discount likely to beat that?

simple answer is no i got a halfords battery for the galaxy saved about £14 on a £99 battery
So for a bosch you wont get much of a discount imo halfords branded stuff gets a bigger discount

shame you cant log into the site with the trade card number to see the prices. Saves wasting a trip.

Although they arent really trying to compete with trade, they just want mechanics and such who cant buy through work (rare) to buy through them.

Well, I put the purchase off because the car was laid up for winter, but bought the new Bosch S5 battery today and the trade card discount for battery and terminal converters was....

£0.00.

I did get £3.40 off a Haynes manual, though, and it had already been reduced by £4.00. I'm so lucky...

By the way, although the new battery fits the tray (just), the terminal converters are a pain, the terminal covers can't go back on, and my Ford battery cover doesn't fit any more!

Wee update for you all. I got an email on Thursday night asking me to review my purchase, so I said that the battery was fine, but I was surprised and disappointed that there was no trade discount.

Got a call on Friday telling me the problem was because I had done Reserve & Collect and the Halfords system won't let you combine "offers", hence no discount but the store should have cancelled my R&C order and made the purchase a new transaction.

Anyway, I was in town this afternoon so stopped at Halfords and got £22 back and a free bottle of screenwash. That means the Halfords price for the battery wasn't quite the cheapest but close enough given the convenience factor.

More importantly, I liked the way they owned up to a mistake and sorted it out quickly and without a fuss. Well done Halfords!

Trouble is that they just cant compete with the internet, Bosch S4 I wanted for my car £100ish at halfords, once they worked out what I needed!
£68 delivered from internet for the exact same battery, I know they have overheads etc but £30 odd cheaper and I dont even have to get off the couch to go and get it

At least the staff always seem happy to help........................................not

Can you still get the square terminal batteries?
Not too bothered about converting it over to round type but it might be nice to keep it all original.
