ultimate cosworth spec
Something along the lines of stians wrc escort but with a tall block big capacity yb dry sump, girdle and try push a 1000hp. Xtrac box and diffs. That's what I'm going to do when my numbers come up Saturday.
Trending Topics
Lots of big numbers being quoted without any knowledge of what the limits are. Forget the silly numbers from Scandy land I doubt if anyone has made a practical YB over 900bhp even Julian has stopped at 880bhp.
Even with a girdle blocks crack & there life span is very short. On pump fuel I know only one over 800bhp . For a practical road car 800bhp is near the limit & needs a refresh every 8k miles. On the drag strip on mega fuel & a Drop of the gas 1000bhp would be available for short bursts.

For me, just a nice useable road car that doesn't need constant pissing about with to keep it reliable lol, pretty much how my sapph is/was, 500bhp, 2wd, konis to keep it comfy lol, big brakes, adjustable beam etc, nice bodywork, that'll do me.
If I could build the ultimate turbo'd Ford as a toy I would go with, I think it's Wenny's?, little MKIII escort but with something like a WRC drivetrain and engine fitted, just less restricted to have a wider powerband:
- Understated looks and therefor big grinfactor
- Smalle and nimble
- Megapunch on real roads where ultimate speed isn't useable anyway
- ultrareliable since it will never see the abuse a true WRC-car will be subjected to

To me,
400bhp
Anti lag
bara box
Uprated diffs front and back
WRC Suspension
Cage
Lightened
THat would be more than enough to have some serious fun with for the road
Track would be the same but more power for the straights

As said above, don't forget the suspension, brakes, wheels and tyre mods to make the most of whatever engine spec you get....... Unless you're just using it for Pod runs
I did work for extreme tuners when they went from 800hp to 1200hp years ago and at the time they said that they were quicker with 800hp as at the time they could not get the power down
I didn't think of that! Clever sopt! Lets not forget that honda, that probably had more than Ł100k under the bonnet (maybe it had a gold engine block?), and then barely opulled away from a 2.0 jetta

As for ultimate spec cossie, a MAD Rod/Ade sort of engine in a concourse condition moonstone blue 3 door with BBS wheels and running gear to match. That would be perfect.

Mine for fast road use. Wrong side of sensible, correct side of extreme. Fast enough to show up most, slow enough to be acceptable.
Track - different story. Beam, suspension, gearbox all would need uprating for it to be enjoyable and safe imo

Working on getting her running early next year with the new Borg Warner turbo, should be good for another 30-40 brake on pump fuel
currrently working on getting the new hydraulic clutch kit to work - having a couple of problems
Tremec gear box is in, along with a bespoke propshaft from Chards of Bristol, it's a work of art
lots of Scania sized componants utilised in it's construction!
