Default 320d/330d

gents,

might be getting a car to smoke about in so my Focus RS can get some love and tlc next year, now i have a garage to keep it nice

now the car will be a dailt commuter, 100-150 miles a week. one of my colleagues has a 318 and he gets 40+mpg (on motorway though) i will be town driving, but the car is half the price for a similar spec.

is it worth going for the 330d or getting maybe a 320d or a petrol beemer. the petrol is attractive as less to go wrong....but a bit gutless (and maybe less mpg)

your views?

4 cylinder 320d and an evolutions remap still goes very well (although not 330 well) and is far better on juice, and 2 less injectors etc.

TBH unless you feel the need to race people in your daily, thats what I would get over a 330 personally.

i have a 330d I have had it for a while now and if you look after it, it looks after you! the advantage of the 330d is DSC as standard also the mid range torque is amazing! in the 100,000 miles I have driven we are over 38 mpg on average and on a motorway run 45 us normal!

they cruise and accelerate well and the stopping is fantastic as standard!

I would try and take them both out for a test drive!

PS only issues I have had was fuel pump at about 100K and a crank shaft pully at 140K ..... thats it!

I had a 318, underpowered and drank fuel like a fish does water!

Now got a 320d and its brilliant on fuel. Most of my driving is short trips, around town etc and it does high 40s to the gallon, that's me putting my foot down a lot. I have a decat and front mount on (still not mapped) One thing to sort out straight away are the swirl flaps. Get them blanked if they haven't been done already.

I had my mates remapped late 330d for a few days and nearly lost my licence on many occasions.

Went stonkingly well for a derv, i'd go for the 3.0 if it was my money on the table
