hi can any one help i have just bought an old ford escort deisel turbo ,im having probs with my head lights ,main beam and high beam , dont seem to be working properly and are making a rather weird crackling sound when i try to operate them , any advice would be really helpfull

 

I should think it's a bad contact or bad relay maybe? You need to isolate where the sound is actually coming from.

My first guess would be the relays. Mine has issues with the headlights going off sometimes, have to mess around with the relay a couple of times and they come back on. Stupid old heap
