Default V-band rings welded..

Hi all,
I'm in the process of making my car's exhaust system using v-bands.
Has anyone ever tired welding a v-band ring onto a cast iorn exhaust turbine housing? reason i'm asking is that an .82 A/R exhaust housing already made with a v-band connector is bloody expensive so i want to try and convert mine with a v-band flange.
What kind of welding wire/rod's needed?
Any info greatly appriciated!

Hi Rich,
Yeah there are adaptors available but only for 4 hole housings.
I've got an expensive gas flowed mountune housing on my BB T4 with the normal cossy cone end so i'm gonna try welding the ring on that.

Wouldn't it be best to fab up your own adaptor out of Stainless Steel rather than risk buggering up your mountune housing?
