How to check for updated ECU/Superchip
Any way of telling by sight if the ECU has been changed and where to look?
Just noticed a bleed valve in the minter I have just bought, car also has K&N filter, everything else "seems" normal....
Cheers,
Kieron

upp teh boost to see if it goes over 10 ish psi
i tested all mine the other day, found 3 were chipped and 7 were std
thought they all were at first cos it ran over a bar on each but i didnt give it enuff time to cut in and stop me
you have to let it have the upped boost for a good few seconds, i was just letting it fly up and if it reached a bar and a half (bit much i know lol) i stopped again

yup, silver 1
easy to remove, unclip cowl (clips all round it so check they are all done if it wont give up easy) and take it and the rubber off, undo the 13mm's and take the rest of the cowl out, leaving the fan wiring attatched cos its 'got a screw'd into the shell' earth and a plug, easier to just lay it sumwhere
then unscrew the ecu
mind you dont trap the vacume hose or wiring when you refit the cowl tho as it will let water in and also pi55 your ecu and loom off a treat
also i have had chipped ecu's thet dont look any different inside
quickest way to tell is the DO NOT REMOVE warrenty sticker on the screw on the rear of the ecu, if its mint its never been apart (well shudnt have been neways

Brilliant, thanks for the walkthrough.
When I recently dropped out of the MR2 owners club/IMOC groups after owning a GT Turbo for the last 6 years I was concerned that I wouldn't get the level of help from any other groups.
Then come on here and it's just like the old days!
Had an XR3 back in '87, 3 XR3i's in the late 80's, then a series 2 turbo in '93. This is pretty much pre-internet so there was little help available short of calling into the stealership!
Nice to finally have the car I have been hankering after for the last 17 years (original series 1)! I was 18 when I first wanted one back in '88, and now just about to turn 35! Still she's an absolute minter and I'm a happy chap!
