Love small light cars with silly amounts of torque. Desperate for a Peugeot 205 STDT. Basically a GTi with a diesel engine. I reckon a 2.1 TD from a 406 with a mild tune would be a right handfull and would drop straight in!

Used to be a great used car garage in Hayes Middlesex back in the 80s called Ed Turners, used to have a very random selection of big powered cars such as a fiat 126 with a rover V8, a 426 hemi powered transit van and many many other wonderful cars, god I miss that place as it was the only place around that my capri fitted right in, as the rsoc hated my car as it has a yank V8 in it

went to buy some bits off a guy once and he had a diesel powered chopper thing, was like a little donkey engine off an industrial compressor i think he said, was attached to a thiumph gearbox, thing looked horid !!

 

genuine saff cosworth, Crystal blue, engine died so it recieved a 2.3D (pug engine!!)

poor thing, guy wouldnt sell it either

 

it was availbale with that engine fited to a sierra so he dind't do anything worng

 

IIRC somebody recently linked pictures of a mk1 escort with a 1.8td engine fitted fwd

 

tuned pug 306 turbo diesel engine on a motorbike guy reckoned it did 180 in 3rd gear just one look at it made me realise there is no way anyone would have the testicles to take it over 60mph as you would be blown off it it looked to have worse aerodynamics than a garden shed

 

my conversion though i think its for the better not worse,
corsa c combo, rid of the stupid million sensor crap engine to a astra tds isuzu

 

a guy on turbosport has dropped one of them in a mk1 or 2 escort to use as a daily, fairly bulletproof engine and great mpg too

 

That's a much better improvement.
I think a mk3 mondeo with a mk2 td would be a better car as well,save the pump injector issues then.

There was an XJS convertible on ebay a while ago which has a diesel conversion!

 

my old e30, i removed a perfect order m20 2.5i and fitted a 3.6 td vm marine engine for no other reason than i had the car and engine sat here and thought lets try and do that on literally no budget lol

 

Well, IMO it's for the better, but there's the old boy in PPC mag that's got a 27litre tank engine in a Rover SD1

 

a mate of mine has a saff cossie which has a range rover 4.2L V8 in it, sounds incredible.

 

The lad that built the 4x4 zetec turbo fiesta years ago has recently put a vauxhall V6 in a daewoo matiz. Dropped on porsche rims. Built it for a laugh as someone brought the matiz in with a blown hg. Was about to scrap it and got the tape measure out.

 

A guy from lincoln had a Rover V8 in a sierra years ago. Everyone used to laugh at the 16v badge on the back. Was a proper sleeper

 

Went to view an XR2i with a Zetec swap from CVH. The bloke had used the wimpy 1.6 from an Si.

He kept telling me how it flew as it was the same size but had 16 valves.I didn't have the heart to point out he'd downgraded his car.
