Unhappy Mondeo Titainium X 2.5 petrol - engine rattle

Hi There
Help!
Had my Mondeo Titainium X 2.5l petrol for 3 years and no trouble, great car......until now!!!
Started car the other day and had quite bad engine rattle, took straight to garage where they found lots of iron filings in the oil filter. Oil level low but not too bad, oil warning light not been on etc.....
Have been warned that may need new engine!!!££++ Not what you want to hear.
Have any of you suffered similar?
What happened?
If you had a new engine....where from, costs, recommendations please!!

Default Mondeo Titainium X 2.5 petrol - engine rattle

Hi, thanks for reply.
Yes, I know what your saying but car is 2007 reg Titainuim X with low mileage and plenty extras like Sat Nav, parking sens', heated seats ++. Im just not going to get anything for it. If I buy another car going to cost me mega bucks £ and probably wont get equivalent high end spec, year and low mileage etc...
.....its a dilemma

Titanium X 2.5 is basically the Volvo sourced engine from a Focus ST...expensive but they are available second hand
