series 1 and series 2
does a series 1 rs turbo drive and feel the same as a series 2 rs turbo just wondering if anybody knew as i have never driven either of the two ,i like the look of both to be honest
never driven them back to back, but have driven both. S2 iirc felt easier to drive, was a little more refined, although by todays standards both feel dated and raw.
Unless you have a big budget, I would go for the S2, far more to choose from and as a result , much much better conditions S2's compared to S1's, £5k would get a very, very tidy S2, but a £5k S1 will be a little rough around the edges.

As a daily driver you definately don't want a S1....they are very heavy on steering. I prefer the S1's for obvious reasons
Chalk and cheese! I ran both side by side for 2 years and the S2 was a big disappointment from day one. I was going to buy a Cosworth Sapphire but was messed around by local ford salesman and ended up taking my business to another dealership and buying the S2 without having a test drive - BIG MISTAKE! About a week later they delivered the car and as soon as I drove it I knew I had goofed.
My S1 was my everyday car at this stage and with a 40 mile cross country journey to work I really enjoyed it arriving at work with a huge smile on my face. When using the S2 I most often took the motorway route and just cruised around the speed limit - Effortless, smooth and BORING.
I suggest that you try both and then decide what suits you best - after all it's a personal decision and one you'll have to live with!
Cheers, John

They'll be different yeah, but similar enough. As said it depends what you want from a drive, and which you prefer to look at.

Night and day, I had both at the same time, the S2 is about the worst Ford I've briefly ever owned I couldn't wait to get rid for another Fiesta.
The S1 in good condition is a proper car in comparison to the S2
