Angry how long should a 2008 fiesta titanium 1.4 petrol engine last?

Cause mine has died! at 65000 miles. still paying for the car till april. surely an engine should last a good 100,000 mile at leasT. I am a carefull driver and it's been serviced properly. I feel that this must be due to a mechanical fault? has anyone else heard of an engine going at such low millage?

Has it gone as in major engine damage or just developed a fault?

Hey,
Well, 'apparently' the pistons have gone and the whole engine needs replaced? I spoke to a mchanic who said that pistons dont just 'go' something has to cause them to go...
The car wasn't making a lot of noise either, which is unusual for a car with the pistons going? it lost power..
I'm sure they are trying to take me for a ride...
i reckon take it to another garage for a second opinion.
I am so angry! I haven't even finished paying for it! if they 'forgot' to change the plugs then what else have they forgotten to do?

Take it to someone who will diagnose it properly and not bullshit you. Although these engines are quite underpowered in standard form they are generally very strong. Common faults are coil packs failing, it went on my wife's old fiesta and it wouldn't even run without it.

Who could possibly diagnose failed pistons without taking the head off? A piston or multiple piston failure would probably be accompanied with lots of smoke/banging/rattling. Losing power is 99.9% likely to be attributed to spent spark plugs/ignition/coil pack as said above or something like a broken MAF or failing lambdas or fuel filter or something equally as trivial, NOT FAILED PISTONS!!

Tell the mechanic who diagnosed it he doesn't have a fucking clue about engines and take it elsewhere.

Did the "mechanic" and I use that word loosely have....

A - a white stick

or

B - a Labrador

Or was he using 1 of those Little Tykes tool kits???

Ha! yes, Ford school for the blind...sounds about right!
I may not know about cars much but i'm far from stupid and am perfectly able to find out! It annoys me that they rip folk off so easily! what about all the wee old ladies..
anyhoo, plan for tomorrow is go up, get stuff out the car, ask for the warranty company number and phone them. Tell Peoples i'm taking legal action against them for breaking my service contract when they failed to replace the plugs at 37000 miles. Contact finance company santander and tell them the company they finance for is breaching contract, then contact ford direct and tell them i'm taking legal action under the sale of goods act because they have sold me a car with a mechanical fault.
I dont drive my car like a radge, it's been serviced 6 times in 3 years...and passed it's MOT 3 weeks ago with no issues other than tyres, a wobbly head lamp and a bonnet catch cable that was stretched/loose!
What i want to do is drive my other car into their big fancy window and do a taxi style onslaught with spanners while calling them all the names under the sun! however, i shall refrain, be glad ive not got PMT and act prfessional at all times. I shall let you know how i get on..
Thanks for all the advice, if anyone thinks of anything else that is of help then please post!
Should have stuck with ma wee VDub Camper! 1971 T2 model.
I'll NEVER buy Ford again...shame really, i always wanted an RS but i'd probably just kill myself!

Default new fiesta engine ...what variant?

ok so update!
i have towed it away from the garage and i'm gonna get my mate to fit another engine for it. My issue is that there seem to be so many engine variants. My car engine is SPJA1J. i have found a good deal on one that is SPJC. Its the same size 1.4 petrol, same model, newer year (2012). Will it fit? and/or is there a web site somewhere where i can check? im hoping the SPJ is the model/type etc and it will fit fine, and the end bit will be a year/location/date type thing?
Cheers..
beki.

im also curious as to whats wrong with it? im guessing these engines last till around 120000 miles considering the amount on ebay with the engines gone around that mileage, were your oil and coolant levels ok? my fiesta has needed topping up twice since ive had it where it uses oil and mines at 73000 miles owned it from 63000 miles and i drive mine prety hard which is also a 1.4 2003 plate and havent even had to change a spark plug on mine
