Ive got one of them and I must admit I panicked a bit when I found it...!
Found out on this forum though that its an under bonnet temperature sensor. The exhaust manifold kicks out so much heat that sometimes the cooling fan kicks in when the cars in traffic or just stood idling!

It should be fastened to the battery box! Looks all a bit agricultural really doesnt it..?!

Default unrefined set up

I concur, when I saw this on my ST I thought it had fallenout of somewhere, but a friend, who worked for a ford dealer, said it is correct, but needed fixing to the other of the battery box.

Seems very unrefined for a car that was the dogs b_____ks when released.
