I so fucking want lol !!!!
my mom had a 2.3 auto estate when we were growing up - d576 rnm. built like a tank, enormously comfortable and returned about 3 miles to the gallon. the 16v heads are meant to flow VERY well out of the box for turbo applications if you don't go with the 6 pot.
I was in one once, my mate was borrowing it off his mum. It was icy as fook and he lost it going round a bend and hit the side of a brand new octavia. The volvo had a crack in the bumper and a broken indicator light, the taxi was a write off!

Not bad old things drive quite well, RWD with good steering and brakes had a nice GLT estate back in the mid 90's.
Also had a 940 wentworth 2.0 turbo a few years back for towing and it was a great old thing built like a tank but happy to go sideways - and the iron block can cope with a big turbo with big boost.

Source an engine from me lol. Got one I need to nick the turbo and some bits off for my estate but the rest is going spare.
Mine is getting a td04 turbo, light blue injectors, intercooler, 3" exhaust, Uprated fpr, 3"AFM from a 960... Think that's it, 300bhp ish on standard internals/management. Go aftermarket management, forged pistons, cam, bigger injectors, turbo, exhaust manifold, modified head and up to 500 is possible on an 8v.

Sweet I'm liking the sound of a high boost 8v
Should really get back to mine, putting a pinto in the Triumph is getting in the way though lol.
Find a late 940 2.3 turbo with the proper 5 speed box (not the overdrive m40) and you've got a good base. If you're lucky you'll get one with a locking diff too. It's easy to get a locker for them from America if you haven't got one though (apparently). or you could just weld it...

That Amazon is truly epic. Built by a Koenigsegg engineer, converted to 2 door, Perspex rear floor to see the one off suspension he designed, 700 or whatever it is horsepower T6, Koenigsegg brakes and a lush interior... Love that car.
Sleeper 240 nice and smooth on steel wheels , with nice turbo 8 valve @ 400 hp or a fire breathing 20v @ 5-600 hp , yes the Swedes and fins are particularly fond of there Volvos..
my old on with a 940 turbo engine!epic car! bought off me by a prodrive mechanic.

oh, get on turbobricks.com for a forum, they REALLY know their stuff there.
you are looking for b20 and b23 turbo engines on early ones, b200 and b230 engines on later ones, then the 16v engine is a b234 which is non turbo as standard and is easier to get the head to go on an 8 valve engine than to turbo the 16v engine.

Mega cars - were never on my radar until I went out in the 600bhp+ silver one in Norway 2002... so much torque (think it was the 2.4 litre 16v engine) and look so cool it hurts!
2 door 240 the way forward but rare as people have said.
I have an immaculate 1993 1 owner 50,000 mile 940 estate (2.3 16V) with electric and heated everything... looks like it just rolled out of the factory it's so fresh... i use it purely for fishing!!
