Is there any difference in the 1.8td endura engine being a fwd and rwd or is it simply just turnt sideways??

If it helps, you can swap them as i had a mondeo engine in my old sierra. Only had to step one of the waterways down a few sizes and obviously change manifolds and mounts over etc. probably had to swap the sump, but cant really remember!

 

Only real differance is the FWD block has a threaded hole missing from the rear that the RWD crank oil seal housing uses, either drill and tap or use extra sealant like i did got a FWD mondeo block in my Sierra TBH i'd just swap heads over save all the hassle, 90% of the time they will snap the cam in a few places, bend some valves and maybt a cam carrier but thats usually if the belt goes at high revs.
Wip the head and check the pistons, most will have valve marks in then from old belt snaps 1 in 3 i've stripped have had valve dents in the top of the piston

 

too true lol, one i stripped still had old bits of valve seat embedded in it lol,
on some of the newer engines the breathe collector may get in the way as it is bolted to the end of the head which would end up against the bulkhead but is easily repiped and moved, other than that it would just be mounts, sump (possibly) intercooler pipes and possibly inlet manifold iirc ex manifold should be ok but downpipe will obviously need modding
