Default h522ebv. moonstone blue restoration...doner bought! 18/11/12

hi all, surfing ebay last night (we all know its a bad idea) and came across this old saph shell in good nick. got a photo of what it used to look like, anyone know any history on the old girl, the lad i bought it off mentioned it could have been an ex feature car but wasnt sure. sorry for all the questions but could do with knowing before i start back on with making it a car again! thanks for any comments, picking the car up within the next few days so quite exited! REG NO...H522EBV

I wouldn't change the colour! Personally I'd put it right back to how it was previously, can't believe it was stripped it looked far too good for that.

I owned this car about 2 years ago, I put the comp th'2 on it and a brand new alloy rad, had it about a year then sold it to a guy from birmingham, it's a very good shell, never been welded nor need any, but I think one of the rear quarters has been replaced as the sealer around the boot isn't the same on both sides

If you have any other questions I'd be glad to try and answer them

Cheers Matthew

Shame to see it stripped like that, was a very nice looking car.

That's what greed does though i suppose.

Thanks matthew, thats great, origional colour it is! although i was toying with gun metal grey (galaxy grey from house of kolor). i have built a few over the years, but this is the first time the missus will be joining in, so watch this space to see a lass actually taking an active interest into cars!..........so the car arrives tuesday so best starting to make room on the drive! more to come

Had a few spare hours the other day so started on the strip down of the old girl, its come apparent she will need a full interior and exterior loom transplant as what was left in the saph was hacked to bits like something out of a chinese horror film!
Heres a few pics of how shes coming along, still looking for a roll over jig/ spit if any one has one for sale?

ok then, so all the rear beam is out, only took 5 mins as it looks like nearly every bolt was missing......ace! would of taken some pics but it started to piss it down, and i was stressed out as its got the common snapped bolt syndrome to the fuel tank . decided against the ferrari lark as i like my fords to stay ford, however i am sticking to the colour, its a stunning colour and looks factory, just better quality and a deeper shine, i dont want to put all my blood sweat and wallet into my car and it look like every other at the show, thats got to be fair right? any comments are welcome, could do with a pick me up lol.

Looks like you've been very busy, keep up the good work.

As for the colour, You can still make a car stand out from the crowd even in original colours if you put alot of effort into it Have you get any examples of the colour though and what it'd look like on a sapph?

i can see your point but some of the builds ive seen on this forum are beyond comprehension, and as i dont think im that bad at throwing a spanner around, some of the talent on this forum belongs with nasa! anyways, i tried to upload a pic of the colour on a ferrari in the sunlight but photobuckets is having a bich fit at the moment. As far as im aware it would be the first one in this colour! just want it not only to be different, but what i want too, as im not going to sell it, but obv keeping the car looking like a ford! judging by lack of comments it doesnt look like people agree, just hope i havnt burnt my bridges on here allready as i reckon i will need advice and encouragement along the way on this one, as ive never atempted a build from this "bare of all bare" shell before. Thanks for the spur on

not a fantastic update this evening but had no time on the car due to some thieving bŁ!tards nicking my cast iron gates!!! i mean come on! good job they left the sierra! so on trip to my mates farm, a gate stood 10 years, bit of concrete, grinder and welder to make the hinges, and wala! a gate, 2 coats of white down probably 20 more to go....on my way back from the farm i decided to call in on my weekly round of pleading with a chap to sell me his cosworth thats been sat on his drive fo ten years, the first time i went to see it i was too young to drive! so hears a fw pics of the rear beam out, my half painted gate and the sorry 4x4 cosworthsat on his driveway......note the sierra carpet acting as a paint catcher

i bought it std with 62k on clock, gradually worked my way down modding route, handling and tuning/tweaking ending with blacks t34etc, went extremley well, 38psi spike got things going nicely, including gearbox sadly! . If anyones cosworth runs an msd map with t3 or t34 greens or blacks your map was more than likely developed in these cars, live on the road over hundereds of mapping hours. Deffo two of the best "workin class" saffs ive ever worked on at the time, best of luck gettin the old beast back on the road mate, and fair play for takin it on, look forward to sein the progress.
