Not on the road yet but im using a 3.44 in my cortina, depends what your doing with the car my axle builder said the 3.75 is the one to go for as a good all rounder, im planning on doing a few road miles with mine so went with the 3.44.

I'm using a 3.75 final drive, Tran-X LSD and 18 Spline Tran-x Shafts. Also the the tubes are fully welded onto the pigs head.

Looking at around 500bhp to run through it, car is not up and running yet though so cant comment on how reliable it is.

Dont have an LSD as yet, i had my axle buit for the car and the axle i used had a 3.44 so just stuck with it, im using HD single pice shafts as orginaly is was going to stick to under 300 hp, now my engine spec is growing and im not sure how long the axle will last, when it gos i will go for two pice shafts and a LSD.

What sort of things are you doing with the car.

On my mk1 escort i ran a 3.44 baby atlas with 2 part r.a.c.e shafts & standard capri lsd that gartrac converted to 18 spline & uprated plates. Running 330bhp no problems (on leaf springs) Got used at Santa pod & track days. No issues.

you can get an 8.8 mustang axle with lsd with ratio of your choice for around Ł900 from america they are used as an upgrade for 500bhp+ mustangs so will handle anything you can throw at them far better setup than a Ł5k atlas imo

Sits fine and clears very tight tho. and thats with 10mm extra track on front due to brakes and 20mm on rear for the same. Prob will have to go for 35 profile on front just to be safe. don't forget mines a mk3 so i have a little more room i guess.

does anyone think a capri lsd will cope with 300bhp from a YB then? as a semi cheap option, i spoke with a rally car building firm n was recommended a diff etc but its Ł900 and was told Ł1700 for a decent axle build.. i just want to get on the road to start with.
