I've started fitting up my engine and running gear onto my RWD S2 Escort RS Turbo project and need to sort out the shortening of the propshaft. Basically it's the rear half that needs to be shorten by 210mm, the Diff mount end look like it's pushed in with a rubber bush (can't really see it properly) and the forward end is welded to universal joint.
Can i just cut it down at the welded end, grind the welds of the universal joint shorten it to the right lenght then just take it to a propshaft /driveshaft specialest and have them weld it back together and get it rebalanced????
Any pics of prop's shortened would be great
