Default scort Van problem

Hi Guys

Just changed a clutch on a MK5 94 reg Escort van yesterday and it wont start

I have connected the battery and all of the electrical connections that were removed when taking gearbox off

I did origionally wire up the starter motor incorrectly and it sparked and started burning. But the engine doesnt even tick over - it is almost as if the battery negative is disconnected, but it isn't

I also noticed on the starter motor there is a small wire running from the battery that connected to the starter solenoid, the circle end of it has come off but there is still metal on it that contacts the starter solenoid. could this be the problem?

Any help appreciated - No clue what I've done & I've never had this problem in the past I've changed dozens of clutches

Ta

Have you checked all fuses, even the big ones in the engine bay fuse box?

theres a 50amp fuse in front of the battery that looks a little worse than the others.

There is a small wire on the starter coming from the battery that has broken - but there is still a bit of metal on it left that touches the starter solenoid- do you know where the fuse/relay is located for the starter?

No the engine isn't turning over - unfortunately the owner removed the dashboard yesterday so cant check for any lights. I dont think they unplugged the ignition switch thought so I dont think removing the dash has affected it? or could it
