I need help ASAP!
I've changed the fuel filter on my escort van, filed it up before putting the new one on & it won't start now.
It looks like theres fuel going to the injecters but it just won't fire up.
Can anyone help?

If its diesel you will have air blocked it there, there must be a way of bleeding the air

Fill it up again and when it starts, hold the throttle at about halfway on the revs. When the revs drop, make sure you add throttle to compensate. Once running okay, leave it running for another 5 minutes or so.

Okay I'll try that when the weather brightens up a bit.
Thanks.

Just re filled the filter & cranked it over, coughed & spluttered then the battery died, got it on charge & will try again in an hour.

Have you primed it via the hand pump on the side of the filter?you just push it down a few times and wait until it gets hard and can't push anymore.

Get some one to press the button on the filter up and down while you turn it over

Prime it and turn it over quickly, prime again and turn over a bit and repeat till she fires up.
Happens to me at work but with an 18 litre engine

They do have a priming pump.
Turned out that the priming pump was leaking air in? No idea why though.
Took it apart, cleaned it & re built it.

easiest way i found was to loosen off one of the injectors and hand prime it. i did this every time i changed a fuel filter on my many escort vans without a single issue
