i cant figure out how the pins and springs are suposed to fit the cat and manifold together on a mk5 escort xr3i 1.8 16v .

ive got new bolts , new springs , new locking pins with securing clips and a new manifold to cat wire gasket .

ive got the bolts in the manifold and the pins and securing clips holding them in , i cant figure out were the springs go and how you tighten it up

it may sound the stupidest question in the world , ive put the engine in a ka and the engine did not come with a manifold or cat , ive purchased a standard manifold and cat , basically if i do it one way it wont tighten up properly and just hangs loose and if i do it the other way i cant get the nuts ot the bolts because the cat wont push on to the manifold enough with the gasket in place .

so yea if any one has got a picture of how it goes together or even an exploded diagram that would be great

try to find the Hayes manual for the car or a similar ford, the joints will be the same even of the exhaust shapes are different for each car!

 

yea i tryed that but the pictures and description in the haynes manual ae vague to say the least , ive searched google with no success so im hoping you guys can help me out

if so could some one please tell me the correct assembly procedure for the bolts , springs , pins and retaining clips that hold the manifold to the cat pipe

ive looked every were including the haynes manual and no decent description or pictures are available
