Are yb mains caps interchangable between block types or are there difrent types for 205 and 200 blocks

 

A blocks main caps are for that one and only individual block and can not be changed between blocks at all..

If you have a decent block and an odd set of main caps then you can get the block re line bored but its not cheap at about Ł250

IIRC, the block is cast, the caps are made and bolted down, then the hole for the crank is machined all the way through, that way the holes are perfectly in line and any casting probs for caps are sorted.

 

Ok cool, so would you use normal shells after line boring or would they need to be bigger on the outside.

 

Normal size. Usually you can just get away with machining a little metal from the caps and line honing back to standard size, not every time, but 90% of caps go on without too many dramas.
