Sadly not as uncommon as we think,I know someone in my old work who's wife was so desperate to "keep up with the joneses" that she had a huge argument with them one day and spouted out that her husband had just been promoted to a managerial job in ford.
Que husband then having to wear a suit constantly into work to keep the myth up.
He did this for 25 years even though he never made it above basic grade 3 work ie putting parts into boxes etc.
Very sad I thought.

 

This guy is nuts

Pretended to buy a house and watched the people move out and take out all their belongings

He wrote cheques from old closed accounts and lodged one for 8.9million into an account so he could show the bank ATM slip to his wife as she was beginning to suspect it was all lies

He took a jaguar out until his three jags he ordered specially came in

Had a party for 100 people to celebrate

His wife was giving away stuff in their house like tvs, washing machines etc cos she thought she was moving into this fab new house

He gave the sellers of the house a cheque for 280k back In 1999 it was

 

A chap i worked with told us he won the lottery twice, not huge amounts but 20k a time, we thought nothing of it and used to take the piss and say what numbers is he doing, had lots of holidays etc, turns out he had over 100k out of the company before he got caught

 

Fool , why do people think they can get away with it

 

I remember seeing this on tv years ago.I am going to do the complete opposite when I win on the Euro.Not tell a soul and just move away ok I may give my mrs some of it if I have to but I am still moving away and keeping my gob shut !!.

 

I knew the family he tried shafting with the house he had the fruit and veg shop in Rotherham near tesco viaduct John Norris, iirc didn't he get jail?

 

What channel was it on? A mate told me about this years ago but never managed to watch it.

If you did win then yes, deny it to all and sundry. You need to do that these days for security reasons as many lottery winners have attracted serious attention from criminals as you are an easy target until you move out of normal communities into a weathier community with likely better security and switch onto how to look after large amounts of cash. Plus you dont want the obvious hassle with gold diggers.

 

I was talking to my local corner shop owner a few months back, I asked him what the biggest lotto win was from the shop, he said a woman round the corner hit the jackpot on a 40k a year for life scratch card two years ago and she still hasn't told her husband, she still works in a shit job and has to pretend they can't afford things!

 

my stepdads son won 55k back in like 2001... he got himself a brand new Cannondale racing bike, it weighed nothing! he wouldnt let me do a wheelie though

think hes still actually got some left... wise man lol..

how can people lie about winning the lotto? surely these peoples family aint THAT dumb when the 'money' NEVER turns up ?

 

My other halfs cousin won the lottery about 10-12 years ago with 3 or 4 others in a syndicate. They got just under half a million each and he still drives the 52 reg car that he bought (cheap) not long after he won.

 

to be fair, down south half a million only just gets you a decent size house

 

Your bang on the money, those poor people lost About 30k they said with fees and promises made in connection with the house, he got 4 years jail time.

Apparently he had a mistress as well and got her to take out a 30k loan to buy a new house new life away but took his wife away on hold pretending it was the lottery money.

The wife earlier on actually rang Camelot but they couldn't tell her if it was right or not but se gave them an approx date and Camelot said it was 8.9 million that was won that night so the wife approached the husband and said " so we have won 8.9 mill then?" and he went " agh yeah that's right love"

Was on Irish tv but his name was hammerly or something like that

 

It all gets out of hand too easily.

A guy that I work withs son brought home a brand new Lexus the other day and the neighbours started asking questions straight away. He make a remark about the lottery and within hours everyone had thought that he had won 5 million. It was all nonsense.

He works in a garage.

 

The accountant at my wife's factory won the Lottery and kept it secret until he had a Merc delivered to work, obviously then he told folk. Still works there now and never changed him, he won 2.2 million

Another bloke at our place won 5.5 million and walked out the same day, he did bring a slab of beer for the lads

 

i'm winning the euro millions this Friday.......

 

If only! I'd not be telling many at all and move to a nice safe area.

 

it must be half each because so am i, iv already know what im doing with the money.

 

if i win it i promise to make charlie sheen look like the local vicar. fast cars, loose women and alcohol. the rest of the cash will be wasted.
