Fed up looking at them! Kinda had a wee idea to get a decent rep sierra as a daily hack and tow car for taking the series 1 cossy to the shows, thought it would look kinda cool getting towed by another cossie but i am already sick of looking at them. Why is it that people build these so called replicas?!?!?!? Most of them dont look like the cosworth they are trying to replicate and more like they crashed into a halfords clearance bin......
Just fancy a nice standard looking car, not one full of rot and plastic crap, why do people feel the need to bolt on cheap crap when they could have got the stuff they need from decent cossie breakers and made it look right to be fair its mostly the escort cossy reps but my god!
Sorry for the rant but its doing my head in!

i think a nice diesel saff cos rep would be good, cheap as hell to replicate and not as hard to find a donor

to make a decent rep, well 95% cossie anyhow, you would be better off buying a cosworth.
the bad reps are done on tighter budgets to be different, i do not see the point.
i did an xr2 rep once, went faster than a standard xr2 though, not quite the same breeding though.

Youd be better off gettin a saff cossie rolling shel and sticking in a dohc or maybe a BMW turbo diesel engine in it if its a tow car, the price that base model sierras go for these days is unreal for a straight car with mot!

After building the series 1 I am going to have a break from building, would love it if someone had done all the hard work already and after building the series 1 I know fine well I would try to build a perfect rep which would be a waste of time cos I could have bought a real one!

There was a boy on here called wullie iirc and he had an absolutely mint white sapphire 1.8lx that had done about 20000 miles, only really need 2 x bumpers and some alloys and your there,I've got a cloth recaro interior complete your welcome too in good order.
Wouldn't take a weekend to sort that fella.

Whats the point of using a genuine cossie shell cause your still gona incur cosworth insurance regardless if you have a twinky or a derv in there. Just get s good base sapphire front bumper bonnet grill and side skirts from a breaker and job done
cosworth insurance is cheaper then cosworth replica insurance for me now, still like to see replicas though, would never complain about seeing one as its always interesting to see what engine/mods they have done to the car too

There has been a few reps on the bay over the last few months. Most of them have sold for over a grand.I wonder how many of them get bought just for the good parts on them.

im doing the same thing but doing it right no stick on tat, as for engine choice ive gone the 24V route good fuel economy on a run and a good tow car, you can have plenty of fun in a 24V sapphire as well as the bonus of getting decent suspsension and running gear over time when the genuine cosworth boys upgrade to better spec.
cheers steve

Sapphires are easy to do well, as the car is the same.
I don't ever think I have seen an Escort Cossie rep that does not look like a dogs dinner, the base car is not the same fecking shape ffs! It annoys me as the poor sap trying to bludgeon it together would be far better off just buying a saff or cheap Escos to start with

Escort Cossie reps look shit because they cost a fortune to make as you really have to use genuine parts to make them look real. I spent a fortune on my old one in the end and sold it at a loss.
