Default bit of advice about my st170

Hi i had my st170 with a lpg conversion for sale or swap on here ebay and swapz. I didn't really have anything decent offered or even anyone want to come and see it. I was just wondering what was maybe putting people off it. Could it have been the lpg conversion as i thought this day an age a car that was a little bit of fun but cheap to run would have been good. I was after 3k for it on a 04 plate with tax and test 3Dr in black, was it too dear ? Im going to keep her now so what people thought would be appreciated as i wanted to know where perhaps i had gone wrong

I had problems selling my st170 main reasons being young people struggle to insure them and the running costs are pretty similar to a mk2 st which I currently have and is far better so people tend to do that. It eventually sold to a older guy who wanted a toy so the wife could use the everyday focus.
It was a 2002 and I sold that for £2400 tax and test

yes its a bonus, I have ST170 myself and the prices on these are all over the place as I have seen some go for £1000 and others £4000 and the same year too, thing is at £3k theres a hell of a lot of others out there for cheaper, but someone clued up will see the benefit of LPG over intial purchase price but its a long waiting game

Me personally if i was to buy a st170 it would have to be imperial blue or grey with all the toys full recaro leather ect. The lpg conversion would put me straight off. People seem to be giving them away these days due to expensive tax, insurance and the fact that they arnt that quick for the expense.
Theres is also loads for sale some with hardly any miles on the clock.

Yeah that was my thought hence having it myself. Its a cracking car and in all fairness im surprised last ford i had was a 98 escort gti and couple of mk2s before, tend to stick to Bmw Mercedes but found the st quite fun and the obvious cheap to run lol

I just sold mine on fleabay for £1800 that was a cat d in 07. 62000 on it 1 month tax 6 MOT it had car park dings and scratches and a rusted bonnet. Was a great runner just the insurance and running costs as said put people off as there are better cars for the price IMO.

Just bought an '03 plate ST170 with 72k miles with FSH for £1300.

Slow as fuck though!!

Just wanted something a bit more comfortable and grown up than my Golf.

Always said I'd never get one!

I love mine. i do a lot of motorway driving and often think why the hell am i using this but as soon as I'm nearly home and on some nice twisty roads it all comes together. admittedly its not the fastest but for the corners the handling and n/a power i find quite usable.
its just a little annoying knowing that when i bought mine at 20 on finance, carrying over old finance too (young and a impulse buyer oh and fairly stupid) that i have paid a good fair whack of money on a car that no one wants. i bought mine because its what i wanted and i searched a fair bit to get a good one. sadly nobody really wants one and I'm suspecting i will have lost a lot of money.
saying that, I'm tempted to just keep it and use it for track days and get something else

a lad at one of my centres just bought an 03 black 3dr, Xenons, nice car but engine light on, paid £600 for it, 2 months MOT no tax

since broke the car as the engines going in a mk2 escort

he made so far £1200 and still has a few bits left, i diagnosed a faults inlet but that was binned anyway

i fancy an ST estate myself, LPG would be a propper bonus!

They are a good car to break! When my st170 was written off I sold all the parts and engine and made about 2k breaking it.

yours must need looking at gaz, they will never have the same feel as a turbo focus but they do go well and really come alive at 4thou revs upwards, I was quite impressed
