Whats a realistic time to arrive to try and avoid the terrible que (sp) to get into silverstone?

Looking at the ford fair website the show cars can go in from 7am.

Get there for 7am, or you will be parked on the road for 3 hours.

come after work if you can't finish early, still be daylight for couple hours after you arrive, plus then you don't have to get up at half 3 in morning to be there before queue.

Normally I get there about just gone 7 after the gates open and let the people who have queued up in, but last year due to the idiots who organised it last year (only one lane from the dual carraigeway open instead of two) it took longer to get in, as they had cars queuing for miles on the a43 and didnt seem to care they had caused chaos. Hopefully this wont happen this year, but if it does I will be moving the cones myself and opening the second lane up as this weekend for the silverstone classsic they had divided the two lames to make three and they had no issues getting people in.

Sounds like a plan, i remember the queue very well, it was a scorcher in an old school car!!

Im surprised no one overheated on the way in, a few did on the way out lol.

Camp at Whittbury park and enjoy the craic. Get up at half 8 relax and have breakfast. Make your way to Silverstone via the private road at 8.50. Stroll though the gates at 9.

It's a no brainer.

I was also sat in that jam as we had a pre meet at toddington services to hand out tickets and left at 7.30 and never got into silverstone until gone 10 it was utter chaos, this year all tickets and passes are being posted to all on the passionford stand and no pre meet, as sod leading the line of 100 cars onto stand especially if stuck in traffic

we never found out if it was a lack of staff or simply common sense as only one entrance was open to deal with 20k of people

Whitbury park
Highly recommend it mate and I hate camping lol It has a great atmosphere about it. The beer tent is great when it gets into full swing and there is normally music and a big bbq going late into the night. Nice surroundings too and the golf clubhouse does a mean fry up the next morning. I'm surprised most of you lot missed the place as it was only 200m from the main camp site lol
