Default Possibly looking at RST tomorrow, pointers?

Besides the obvious is there anything in particular i should look for/check?

I've had a mk4 before but not a turbo, and i've got a mk4 project at moment so know most of problem areas rust wise.

Any tips or points? Cheers!

Check if breathing heavy, good way is if the oil filter cap lifts up or falls off after a good kick in

You want to see it from cold start (not started before you get there)

Check for smoke on start up, on boast and on lift off

Alittle puff of black smoke on gear change is ok but make sure it's not excessive

Flat spots on boast or it popping and banging while on boast

Oil leaks

Tapping, if it is it's not the tappets it's the cam it's self due to bad design.

And make sure everything feels tight and on road test

And if you know about rust areas that's ok but alot of people forget to check around the rear springs on the chassis legs

Good luck mate

Mods wise: "ebc vented discs and pads. full magnex stainless exhaust. fully adjustable koni suspension." and says its chipped too. will pedley will be checking it over to make sure it's running 100% once i've bought one.

It's advertised over 2.5k so shouldn't be a rotter. Little scab near windscreen and one near rear wiper. 90 spec, has 17" team dynamics on but i'd change them.

Not expecting concours. Hopefully the weather is ok and i can give it a good look over.

Bolton. Won't be buying it tomorrow cause I'm waiting for a guy to come buy my trials bike first.

Been in the trade for a few years now so know about buying etc, just wondered if there's anything Rs specific.

Cheers guys.

I always went with this when buying a Rs Turbo, when buying a S1,S2 and FRST they all checked out good ones by following this guide.

What a disappointment.

Fuse box rotten, then smothered in wax oil, similar with battery box, back window was ready to fall out of hatch, carpets were swimming.

The search for a nice, red late turbo continues.

you won't find a rust free S2 for that money.

all the s2's i looked at around that money were rusty/over priced.

A decent one will cost Ł3500+ imo although you may get lucky and find one in your budget but expect to pay a few quid getting it up to scratch and you are better going for one in good nick in any colour rather than limiting yourself to just a red one m8, but good luck with your search

It was advertised at 3k. Looked and sounded very good when I spoke to the guy.

Just a shame he wasn't totally honest about it.

I'd consider mercury grey or red, last escort I had was white so don't fancy white again, and black is a royal pain in the arse cause I'm into detailing so id want it prect 24/7.
