Default unsure about buying an S2 rs turbo

Need some advice.

As title says im in a financal position to buy and insure a S2 rs turbo and a sierra saphire cosworth to be honest im torn between the them

Erst: planning to buy modified 160+bhp
cossie: planning to buy as near as standard power as possible(as it would be my first RWD car)

only thing that worries me at the moment is that i live in london and i dont have a garage or a driveway so the car would be parked on street all the time i work just round the corner so i would leave the car at home during the day, i only use the car at weekends but a daily driver if needed, whatever car i buy will be fitted with decent thatcham alarm/immobiliser, full cover steering lock and a tracking device (the type that would contact me if the car get nicked).

what im asking is if there are rst or cossie owners out there that has there car parked on the street? and if they have any problem with not having a garage or driveway to park them?

As some have said above,i wouldnt leave an RS on the streets as they will either get damaged or stolen, also so they are old fords which rust,so would you want it exposed to the great British weather?

yea the only reason that holding me back about buying one is that it wont go in the garage, i am also thinking about a mk1 focus rs but the same applies really there is a standard saphire cossie local to me and thats parked in the road.

I was always told "you shouldn't let anybody else stop you buying what you want".

but might have to keep my ford orion that i was going to modify but most people say that i ruin it as it has just 45k miles and original and to just get an rs.

cant wait to move out of london

I live in north wales and used my rs turbo cab everyday, left on the street,in my ownership all that happened was the mirror was hit but not broken, theres a rs turbo cab on here for sale might be a better option as RS cars seem a target latley,I rent a very good size unit for £70 month with electric but not close to my house but keeps it out of the weather,

Personally I wouldn't leave it outside because it will rust and be very unreliable in time due to damp etc, and then there's the vandalism aspect to consider, not an issue for me but if i lived in a built up area I'd worry.

To be honest I don't see why you shouldn't buy a cossie IF you can afford it, nothing against rs turbos but it's in a different league as far as power, RWD, cost, maintenance and so on.

Everyones circumstances are different, but IMO I'd buy a cheap run about and rent a garage any buy an RS turbo, thats possibly the better option.

To be honest, If you are going to use it at weekends and possibly through the week does it matter that you leave it on the road. I know there is a chance of being damaged and stolen, but there is the same chance of this in tescos car park. I know its not ideal as they are both nice cars. But it will be insured, so its up to you.

Buy a series 2 turbo. Fit it with a hench steering lock and chain it to a lamp post if possible. I have been running a xr3i cab as a daily driver now for 18 months while I did a full resto on the series 1 turbo. No one has ever touched it.... And I leave it parked up in one of the shittier london bouroughs every night. Some one left a burger on the bonet one night! Lol. A car is to be ENJOYED not preserved and worried about constantly....... Although the series 1 is now garaged! Which makes me a hypocrit!

Yeah you wouldn't leave an S1 out. I have a clean Series 2 and I'm not looking forward to leaving that out side

Soon S2s will be disappearing.

They're all disappearing these days. Sooner or later the only ones you'll see will be static at shows :/

If I was parked on the road I wouldn't settle for anything other than a tracker with alarm that txt/called your mobile when it went off.

I generally remove all the HT leades and pull a few choice fuses too just for good measure. ALWAYS forget to plug everything back in when I start it though lol
