Default Spin happy, washing out Mondeo MK3

Hi all, just after some advice with a Mondeo MK3 i have not owned for long.

It is a 2002 model, 2.0 petrol usual model nothing fancy, however if the roads are even slightly damp and i try to accelerate in general aswell as pulling away from roundabouts, traffic lights i have to be very gentle with the accelerator because it just wants to spin the front wheels up?

I also a couple of times have taken small ish roundabouts in the damp/wet at slow enough speeds and the front end of the car just slides out? I managed to bump the kerb last time it happened!

The car has done 150,000 miles but has full history and only one previous elderly owner, he had spent thousands on it before he died and it has wanted for nothing, its a really good example and never been in an accident, it does not make any funny noises or anything, its getting to the stage where when it rains or has been raining i don't like driving it.

Any ideas as to what could be up? Don't have a clue where to start!

What tyres are on it? If they are cheapies then I'd replace them for a good branded set, I personally rate Michelin or Continental tyres.

Get the wheel alignment and suspension bushes checked too as this can cause poor handling.

Because of the savage power!

I drive a mk5 fiesta 1.25 zetec and I can spin that into 3rd when its wet if I try lol
When you try to pull onto a roundabout or out of a corner, like you I've gotta be pretty careful otherwise it'll just spin up the road, and its not even on shit tyres either

I actually managed to spin it into 4th going up a hill earlier, lights changed, across the railway bridge then the moment i hit the hill even at 20mph in 2nd, it the rev counter dived from 2k to 4k and it was off, span into 4th and only stopped spinning when i let off the accelerator, damn thing! in the wet that was

Its had a new clutch.. maybe ill check tyre pressures then? Seeing as an old guy owned it before me.. my grandfather put 50psi in each one of his tyres before (steel wheels on a 306!)
