if you had endless money pit then you could R and D new parts using new technologies and make summit out of this world, Look at the power a F1 engine puts out for its size,

Money makes the wheels go round, The more money, the faster they go

Has it got to be drivable on the road or a full race YB engine.
Mine is a road engine with ports , valves, cams all well off race spec it will be circa 700bhp on race Fuel. Assume over 800bhp abtainable if a few more comprimises are made with roadability.
You can always cheat , mine also has a 200bhp Nitrous capability. A 1000bhp YB engine exists in Cyprus using Nitrous.

i think just saying how fast can you afford to go isnt right. You cant just keep extracting bhp out of say a CVH without it becoming 'not' a cvh.

Is it on a particular size of turbo? Like "how much from a YB with a T3" would be a better starting point.

Plynchy.....thats not what he means. I think he means the most possible out of the engine full stop....wether it has a t34 or a jumbo jet engine blowing into the fooker

Maximum budget?

1.6CVH N/A - 200 BHP
1.6CVH Turbo - 450 BHP (stand to be corrected)

2.0Zetec N/A - 220 BHP
2.0Zetec Turbo - 500 BHP (but more torque than 1.6 CVH turbo)

Cosworth YB N/A - 340 BHP (£££££)
Cosworth YB Turbo - answers above from more knowledgeables

Duratec N/A - have heard 300 BHP, not sure about more???
Duratec Turbo - FUCK KNOWS

ZVH N/A - 200 BHP (but more torque than 1.6 CVH)
ZVH Turbo - 400???

2.0 Pinto - have to add to this - aspirated 240 BHP (££££), supercharged 450 BHP, turbocharged 600 BHP - this was achieved years ago in the states!!!
