Default To sell or not to sell???

Lately I've been thinking about other things I'd like to do or get back into, track days, get my road bike licence and get an enduro bike and buy a decent mountain bike.
Last year I bought a mk2 frs which sits in the garage doing nothing except the occasional blast so i would say I get little enjoyment for the money I have in it.
I have a mondeo st tdci estate which is brilliant and I use it for work every day and a 2004 cr250 for mucking about on.
What I'm considering is selling the lot and definitely buying a Honda crf450 enduro and to replace the rs and st with an impreza wagon of some description,gb270 hawkeye or keep the st estate and buy some other car for the track,I'd rather have 1 car that does everything and the bike in the garage for using when I'm bored,I can take it out on crap days and get it up to it's axles in mud.
Anybody else sold their pride and joy to replace with more things that they actually use and was it a bad decision???

Sounds like your nearly there anyway tbh , i would definately sell asap and enjoy the things that you want to do. Be alot harder if it was an older classic RS model imo. Plus this time next year how much value will you loose. Theres your mountain bike most likely. I couldn't sell my saph now despite wanting a bike like you but its old and i love it.

What started me thinking was last week I was at the isle of man tt and it looked proper fun, something the rs doesn't give me but the money in it could so I'm prob halfway there I suppose,I'll give it a couple of weeks till I get some other loose ends tied up then start the selling process if that's what I want.

Just sold ours because of money and mark misses it really badly but he drove it daily

But he's going to sell the escort at some point and buy a track car to cheer him up

With fuel we save over £400 a month?

Sounds like its quite an expensive ornament if you rarely use it. I guess if you would need to sell it to fund other things in your life then you are perhaps not fortunate to be in a "money no object" situation. If this is the case sell it before it loses more money as im certain you would regret it later on in life. You have scratched the itch and if it comes back at any point, they will almost certainly be cheaper so get yourself another.

I sold my Lotus Exige as I thought it was just sat there doing nothing.

So sold and bought and old MK2 RS2000 to restore - 6 years later I'm still doing up and it does my head in

Should have kept the Lotus - as I miss the change for a blast every now and then. Don't think the RS Focus will lose that much money ????

Best of Luck.

Just booked it in for it's second service which it needs regardless as it's a yearly service, not miles based.
I can keep it but to buy an endure bike and have that and the mondeo I'm stretching myself plus mrs 155lee keeps dropping hints about a 2nd child so keeping the rs,a bike and the mondeo wouldn't be possible, but I could have a sub 10k fast car, mondeo and a bike or fast estate and bike and no weekend car that doesn't get used.
It's a tough 1 but for the little I have used it I don't think I'll miss driving it,just miss having it but other toys would help ease the pain.
Decisions decisions!

Sell the focus, get a bike, get an MTB and get a sapphire cossie (or similar) and a bit of money in the bank
Winner
Focus RS`s are dropping in price in my opinion

Sell it.

- Buy your new gixxermegabusablade1300.
- Keep the Mondeo ST Estate to smoke around and tow with.
- Sink a few grand into buying a track car.

Much better having something a bit lairy/special parked in garage for the odd blast rather than a MK2 FRS which is more of a daily than treasured dry weather show piece IMO.

Cheers,
Grant

Been thinking about a throttle bodied nova saloon for track use only but my worry is I know that if I got bored I wouldn't get my money back in a hurry, been looking at the prodrive sti impreza on eBay thinking that does most jobs,is sellable once I get bored with it and should retain some of it's value.
May not buy that particular 1 but it's caught my eye and I'd keep the st and get a bike too.
Not decided what I'll replace the frs with but I'm swaying more towards selling it the more I think about it!

keep the Mondeo, you'll only lose more money selling it and they are great family / everyday cars..

sell the RS, get the bike you want and pocket the change to buy all the new baby stuff

If you decide to sell, speak to Focus RS direct, they will buy it mate and make very sensible offers, if u let me know the spec/miles, i will get you a price from them.

mate when you get out on a bike for the first time the focus will be nothing but a distant memory

riding bikes is totally different than watching them

best thing i did was get my bike licence as the fun per pound factor is a no brainer

trust me mate you wont look back

Iv decided to scrap my zetec s project that i don't have time for. I am picking up a mk5 fiesta van, all the good bits onto it and can then use it to make money.... Not spending on a dream.

i think the mk2 rs focus is a very good car ,but too modern to sit in the garage as a toy.i cant comment on a bike as i never had one ,track car is where im heading next and get some fun out of the cars instead of polishing and cleaning and worrying about them lol

Think it,ll be a case of outer sight outer mind . I reckon the value of one will drop like a lead balloon over another year or two. Cut your losses and get the bike 'free' or nye on from the difference you,d loose over that year.

Why not use the Focus for some trackdays? have some fun with it

Small light reliable cars are best for trackdays I think. My Lotus ExigeS takes sooooooooo much stick on track and is good fun on road as well.

I contacted focusrsdirect whom I bought the car from last year, going by cars advertised on their site I think they would ask roughly the same as what I paid last year for it but their offer was 4500 less,I know they are taking the risk laying out money like that, overheads etc but I'm not taking a hit like that in a year.
As for using it on track days I'd rather not risk it,1 careless mistake from myself or someone else and I have lost thousands, rather risk a 10k car than the focus.
Spoke to my parts man friend at ford and he thinks ford will do a new mk3 frs so the values will drop then, going by what I paid and what similar cars are ADVERTISED for then my cars worth PRIVATELY what I paid for it last year.
But what they are advertised for and what they make maybe won't be the same.
Not needing to sell, just selling as I want other toys so won't be accepting silly offers just to get it away.
As for more baby stuff,my loft is creaking with the amount of baby stuff the mrs has squirrelled away up there that our son has outgrown, watch as it will be a girl next time ha ha!

That's a good comment, not wantng to ruin the car but get some fun from them, polishing and worrying about where you park them isn't fun,if you take care of them like that then doing a track day will fray your nerves.
