Whast the difference between a mk2 1.3 ohv engine and the mk4 1.3 ohv engine ?

Quite a lot. Most still call them a crossflow but they are very different.

was on about the escort i was interested in how they have changed over the years, going from rwd to fwd and so on and what was so different between the two

Correct as they are driven from opposing ends, that aside the actual engine itself I should think there is very little difference in.

The same engine is fitted to the KA, with a couple of tweaks, EFI etc, and a name badge saying "Endura", it's still the same engine though

Actually it's not. Only part that's usefull is the fuel pump blanking plate and dizzy blank.

Nothing else fits.

mk2 1.3 ohv is a xflow

mk4 1.3 ohv is a valencia/endura

valencia's are the engines used in mk1 and mk2 fiesta's, and mk3 escorts.. basically a baby xflow with a 3 bearing crank

endura's are the same engines just fuel injected and used in the mk4 escorts and ka's
