Default Radiator Leaking

I wonder if anyone can help?

I have an Escort Convertible with an RS Turbo engine and the radiator seems to be slightly leaking. I have pressure tested it and it is leaking at any pressure above .5 Bar from the seal where the tabs hold the core to the end tanks. The question is has anyone had any luck retightening the tabs to stop the leaking?

I have had a look and don’t think you can get a new one so the only option would be an alloy rad or refurb?

Thanks.

Get a new one. I tried to fix mine just as a temp fix. I didnt have a working temp gauge and it eneded leaking when i was on a long drive and ive blown the head gasket and bent the head :/

For Ł60 you may aswell just change it or upgrade!

Thanks for the reply, where can I get a stock replacement I can’t seem to find any?

I would prefer to keep the costs down, if I look at a refurb I assume that the core would be replaced and my end tanks would be used? If this is the case then will it work.

Final option is an alloy rad but these cost from about Ł180 I think and I am trying to keep the costs down.

Thanks for the reply, I will take the rad out and then have a look at all the tabs and see if I can recrimp them.

Out of interest does anyone know where can I get a stock replacement as I can’t seem to find any?

Looking at the car it seems that I have a S2 rad and intercooler and an S1 turbo set up as it is not water cooled, the additional water pipe is just routed back to the top hose. I suppose a stock non-turbo rad would work but would be too long with the standard intercooler that I don’t want to change currently.
