Default Hi every.... Erm help please :/

Hi everyone jus finally after years of wanting. Got me an RST .
Problems have been an endless pleasure till now, I'm in way over my head.
The car boosts but the around est 4000rpm(no rev counter, broken) it's suddenly feels like it's towing a ten tone trailer, as well as the exhaust note changing. Any ideas or help, I'm a competent DIY mechanic but is this something I can fix ext thank you

Could be many things to be honest, from a boost leak to cam timing etc.

Your best off taking it for a setup, especially as it's new to you.

Not only will you have piece of mind, but they can pinpoint and resolve the issue quicker than what you could.

Thank you Martin yeah that's something I've read about boost pipes and have checked them all. Do you know a ruff price on a set up.
This is my first turbo or performance car. So it's all very new to me

Being your from Norwich I am not to sure of the tuners in your area but someone will be along shortly who will.

Exactly that, as it's a FI engine, it's very easy to destroy the engine if it's not setup and mapped correctly.

Some of the choices are:

MSD (Blackpool)
Reyland (Birmingham)
Turbosystems (Newcastle)

I am in a similar position to you as I don't have a decent tuner in my area.

At a decent setup they will pressure test the system for leaks, it's not a lot around Ł160.

I can highly recommend MSD/Matt Lewis for parts.

The hose is ok I guess I don't think there collapsing but I'll check it.
ATP!!!
Going on the biases the car is running lean in boost. Will the car be ok to drive if I don't go in to the turbo. As I'll need to drive it 20miles to the tuners
Thanks for your help.

Pop the actuator arm off the turbo, or adjust it so its as long as it will go.

This will mean that the turbo is now incapable of boosting so you are safe. The car wont drive great but I did this when I first built my engine and drove it to a tuners like that.

APT are very reluctant to touch RST's specially ones still running MFI... But worth a call as they are so close!

When you say reluctant, do you actually mean they don't understand MFI?

In reality this is normally the case, otherwise if not I don't see the problem.
