Default ST170 Suspension saga

HI all

wanted some thoughts on an ongoing saga on my ST170

I added some B8 sprint lines and eibach pro springs so a B12 kit but bought seperetly as when i did this they had stopped doing them while they changed to the eibachs
the car was great at speed but most of the time was pretty horrible , bouncy on the rear and not good to drive unless you were hammering it and then it was very nice.

so i bought new ford shocks and fitted the eibachs as i wanted a more comfy ride
much more suited to our roads for me but it now bags on the front over speed humps

the shocks are brand new OEM ford shocks and by all accounts it should be fine but it is banging as if it has bottomed out on humps etc

I am thinking the eibachs are the wrong ones but the box was labelled as an st170 set
i am getting upset that all the other stories on eibachs are great and mine are giving me grief

Rich

Could be a worn bushing.

Seems that the bumpstops were not put back on

so my question now is should it be hitting the bump stops at all ?

Minder , i meant that ford did sell eibach springs as an upgrade for the ST170 and by using eibachs you would think that they would be fine.

Anyone else had OEM shocks with the pro kit eibachs and they hit the bump stops over speedhumps going fastish
I am suprised they do this but maybe with the bumpstops fitted they do not matter as much.

So the drama continues

the fronts are rubbing the arches on roundabouts so either the eibachs are not the correct ones or they are just crap.

back to OEM springs and dampers i trhink as i have never had so much grief upgrading some suspension before.
I will check once the springs are off to see if they sent me some other focus springs as it seems that the eibachs are way too soft for the car

Where did you buy the Eibachs?

There's a sure fire way to check I they're correct bit it involves getting under the car again (and still having the box)

On the box will be the part number - E3588-140 hopefully. As well as that will be a code, not sure what it'll be but it's an internal part number, which SHOULD also be marked on the springs themselves.

If its labelled as an ST170 kit with the above part number, but the code on the springs doesn't match the box, they're wrong, simple as that.

I've had a look to find the code but I can't.

If you get the numbers off the springs and post them here, I can check them for you, should be 2 different numbers, 1 front, 1 rear.

They should be 9 digit numbers, he fronts ending with 'VA' and the rears ending in 'HA' and starting with either 358 or 359 if they helps?

Ok, the rears should be (EW)3587002HA and the fronts (EW)3588001VA

Are you sure its the arches that are catching? When I first fitted the Eibachs to mine there was rubbing, turned out it was on the plastic arch liner. This wore through pretty quickly and now no more noises.
