think you may be more concerned about closing the bonnet

wiring to make the clocks and instruments are very straight forward, and aslong as you have a non PATS ECU it is fairly straight forward.

but seriousley, i did one for a customer and he had to put a bulge in the bonnet as the camcover was about 2" too proud!

I dont wana put you off m8 but its gonna take longer than a weekend lol. Will it wire into an xr2i loom? In a word, no. U need a mk5 rs2000 loom and the pre pats 1agb ecu. Rev counter is strait forward enough. speedo is electric as its a mk4 so would depend on what box you intend on running(mk6 escort ib5 would probably be easiest). Also need to weld in an engine mount like you would with a zetec-e conversion. Modifiy a escort zetec engine mount to bolt to engine. Then an appropriate radiator and piping. Make the rs manifold mate up to the existin exhaust system. Im not sure if the mk4 fuel pump is ecu controled or by a relay, thats sumin you would have to figure out. Same goes for the cooling fan. When I fitted 1 in a mk3(which I suspect is probly easier than a mk4/5), I had to modify the front crossmember to make room for the alternator aswell.

So . . .yeah, its not straight-forward, but good luck and get sum pics up when you start

Just to add in my car the rocker cover does not hit or protrude the bonnet at all, and ive got uprated mounts so theres no risk of movement what so ever

Use a Rs turbo box. Mount the alt high and it should go in ok. Bonnet bulges are cool any way lmao.

It is easy to put a rs2000 engine in a escort, I have done it in fiesta mk 2 with out cutting in the bonnet. It is all done with out cutting in shell

Dont you have to cut & weld the shafts on the fiesta?

mk5 rs2000 ecu

xr3i engine ready to be pulled out

engine out

rst lsd box painted up

rst lsd box, rst clutch, zetec flywheel bolted together

power steering, aircon pump, tensioning pully removed, and i also used xr3i alternator as rs2k one was dud, just swapped pullys around

bought this from local mator factors for 12 quid WRONG SIZE lol

this is the CORRECT size you need if u go down my route

also use the xr3i alternator arm

not happy with this but it works 10mm plate sat on rear of block for engine mount

engine mount modded

engine mount strengthend

again strengthend

(i will get this done by an engineer properly)

engine ready to be dropped in, i left only rear gearbox mount bolted on or else it wont go in

alt had to be removed to get it in too

engine in and mounts ready to be bolted on including gear linkage n other bits

engine sits forward on left side 11mm (must be plate)

blanked off egr and dragged mani up before bolting starter on!!!

i had probs with xr3i rad as alternator was rubbing on pipe, so i used rst rad as it can be pulled over to the right

welded exhaust, plumbed and wired it( a slight fault on wiring if any body can help) engine carries on running without key in until i remove fuse from permanant feed to my x2 yellow relay setup????? but ticks over lovely

bonnet shuts but is tight so gonna have to put crappy bonnet risers on n just tidy bits up, plus get a propper mount!

jobs a good'n

You will need the lambda (red/black) wire connected m8 to sort the fueling, as without them its not closed loop fueling anymore. and its nothing to do with the cat.

Also I think pin 85 of the injection relay needs to go to a switchd live, so that when ignition is turned on its activated then when its switched off it goes off.

I always thought lambdas were to do with cat lol. Learn something every day. So ill connect lambdas up, going to try a constant earth to 85 of fuel relay first,

Hi mate,

brilliant work! really love the old I4's

Is your engine still running on? If it is I would suggest looking at the alternator/battery light. My car had this issue for a little while. The alternator light would draw just enough current to back feed the main relay keeping it engaged and the engine running.

Rob,

Shouldn't do really tbh. Does the alternator light not not light up at all?

Something is keeping your main relay energized....
