if you make it out of carbon resin composite it will no longer be a suitable heat shield as it is flammable

I just fitted a ford heat shield to my alternator, is a silver cover looks plastic but obviously must be made of something heat resistant. I just had to fit longer bolts on the alternator to attach it. For the life of me I can't remember what it was off but if anyone knows it would save making something up.

4x4 cosworth and escort cosworth have an alternator heat shield as standard it is likely that you have used that one if yours is a ford item daz
we used to fit them to all our 2 wd cars with longer bolts
What you actually want steve is a ducted intake on the back of the alternator as the air is drawn in through the back of the alternator
proper cars made by the japs have them as std

Audi have a heatshield that fits on the back of the Cossie alternator also has a pipe that goes to the front bumper for cooling. Have used it on mine for 12+ years now.

Not sure but can ask my Audi fanatic friend who put me on to it.
The 4x4 one is not suitable really if you want to do it properly. Before i fitted mine the alternator lasted less than 3 months & i just replaced it.
You have to use the longer studs in the Audi alternator case to get it to fit but it is the solution.
