Default I need a cheap runabout.....

Dont really want to spend more than a grand on a motor to go to work and back (5 miles a day) Realistically something not too old and very cheap to run.

Was thinking along the lines of a 1.0 Corsa C?

Just looking for ideas really, just in case I'm missing something obvious

Cheers Billy

Old Peugeot with the xud lump. I had a 306 dturbo which I swapped for a 405 estate as I needed something bigger. Get one with Bosch fuel pump and you can run on veg or pretty much anything oil based if you want. Good old lumps. I'm getting 42mpg thrashing it round town loads more on a run

Like tomti said, a peugeot would be a good bet. I'd go for a 205 diesel simply because there not worth much and cheap to run.

If it's only 5 miles though, I'd be inclined to just cycle it or use public transport if I'm honest.

Rover 400 or 45 2.0 turbo diesel. SO good for a cheap diesel, comfortable and no need to worry where you park it etc.

if you have size 9 or under feet then you can't beat a pug 106 D for uber cheap motoring

failing that then 306 td or even citroen zx td are great my ZX just won't die

Its been an excellent but its getting abit worn now and i could do with an estate. its done 122000 miles and in doesnt use oil or water. I do change the oil every 6000 miles. ill keep it until another bargain comes along.
