Default anyone replaced a porsche boxster steering rack?

got one to do at work and cant get the power steering pipes out of the rack itself. it seems like they have just corroded into the aluminium.

Just thought...is it the later boxster (987) and has play in the steering arms? If so you can replace just the "drum sticks"

I had this when I replaced my focus rack. luckily it was on the replacement from the breakers and they just swapped it and mine came out fine. If this is the case you will have to replace the pipe/s. Only option really if they wont come out.

its been leaking oil and has filled up the rack boots!
been soaking the pipes in penetrating fluid all day and they still wont come out.i have managed to get them to turn but they wont come outwards.its a warranty job as we sold the car so im trying not to have to replace the pipes as they run from the engine at the back all the way to front by looks of it

ah,right. i think a call to the dealers will be on the cards tomorrow-the actual rack doesnt look to bad to do.

Have loads of trouble with a/c pipes corroding into pump/ condensers etc and usually have some luck with a hot air gun yes it hard to believe but get it as hot as you can/dare and I think you will be surprised how easy they come out and if your only other option is replacement you have nothing to lose
