mot question

Default mot question

my lads 106 failed the mot today on the power steering not working
if we take the pump off and remove the fluid etc can they still fail it on a retest

be easier just to fix it! thousands of 106's in scrap and breakers so loads of cheap bits availible for them!

You would need to swap rack too as well as removing all power steering components I would think

i will have a look at it tomorrow if it ever stops pissing down
just wondering if i cant fix it if i can do the above

Yes they will fail it,
If you remove the pump and fluid then the rack will more than likely have play in it.

As above just fix it its the safest thing to do.

You'll need a non-PS rack too, you will fook it in no time if you run it not working, or with no oil in it.

Are they not electric power steering on those like the saxos? If so the saxos suffer from a wiring problem within the ignition cowling or even sometimes the alternator

This or also check as the ignition barrel is returning to the correct point after starting.It will stop the steering from working correctly.

correct it is electric power steering and not belt driven
i had a read up and it seems a common problrm
i smacked it with a hammer and it is all working again
when in doubt give it a clout
