Firstly Hello and very nice site you have here..
secondly a couple of weeks ago i had a bit of a strange day as my dad phoned me and gave me his pride and joy a 1988 xr3i. He has owned it since 1997 and has spent a fortune on it just keeping it on the road TBH...
Now at heart im a vauxhall fan but i love the fact that this car is on good nick and its over 20 years old...
now the problem...
what do i do with it? do i return it to bog standard and drive about in it... or turn into something special..i.e Track car??
I like the fact my dad has owned it for long and i know the history of it..

i have removed all the blue and that is black now...

The joy of it is it is purely for my pleasure i dont need it to get to wotk or anything so can spend time on it....
Well i'd be more inclined to put it back to original and keep it mint! He obviously liked the car enough to keep it this long and couldn't bring himself to sell it, which means he wants it in the family and to be looked after imo!
Think of XR3's these days, ok not worth as much as a 16i or an S1 but still a sought after car for people to restore, I say keep it mint

stick an rs turbo lump in it and enjoy it, yeah yeah you should keep it standard but these are ultra slow in standard form so will cause you to be bored for example that mg next to it will kill it so stick a turbo lump in it tune to 180bhp and enjoy
That looks lovely and they're getting rarer all the time, very few good ones (like yours) around now. Keep it standard and look after it. By the way, it's far too good for a track car.
Keep it standard and do your dad proud, im sure in years to come he will turn and tell you he never doubted you and he's pleased with the fact you still cherish his pride and joy. Not many about like people say and especially ones that havnt been bastardised!!
Looks mint tbh, keep it that way and hopefully you could maybe do the same one day

Sod the mrs
Don't use it as a daily! Unless you treasure it it will rot away after a couple of winters imo.
Keep it standard'ish and use it as a second car. I'm sure thats what you dad would want? Kinda like a family heirloom. Just think, if you keep it nice and garaged away you could go for days out in it with your dad in the future.
