I am using a K&N panel filter, Dreamscience re-map (DSci map) & an Airtec Gen3 intercooler. Want a sports cat next but will have to look into what one.

J&R panel filter, RS clutch kit, Decat, Scorpion cat back, Colins Dump Valve, Dreamscience Platform with DSCi map. Circa 275 bhp (not proven)

See a lot at the moment with REVO remaps, meant to be really good and have the bonus of various maps, one of which the car wont rev over 2k if your car is at a garage or something similar.

Mine's got K&N induction kit (had the dreamscience one but was utterly shit), airtec FMIC, Full 3" turbo back milltek exhaust with sports cat, downpipe and resonated middle box, and a dreamscience race+ map.

The clutch does slip occasionally, it's down to the pressure plate not being strong enough, put in an RS pressure plate and it'll be fine. The rest of the clutch components are the same as the RS.

Apart from that, I've not had a single issue with the car in 3 years, and it gets abused!

A pleasure mate. Had to pop out and pick mrs up from work.
I'll try and find that thread for you and have a look on STOC for a buyers guide as well so you know what to look for.

Drive shafts are a weak point.
Models about that age have weak clutches so expect it to slip if you map it, but you could be lucky an have a strong clutch.
Oil diaphragms fail. Best repaired by using the Volvo part instead of ford.
Boost and oil gauges can play up usually due to a duff signal from maf/map sensors. Disconnect the batt for half hour would usually sort it if not new sensors.
Rear gearbox mounts are a bit shit, updated one is about Ł65.
It may have a space saver tyre, if not a compresor and tyre weld should be in the right hand corner of the boot.
Abs module can fail, Ł1400
Side skirts can come away from the body so check they are fitted correctly, covers for the headlight washers also come loose.
Remember the st3 only has 4 seats as well.
Will look now for a buyers guide.

*edit* thats a run down on what they have on the buyers guide on the owners site.

A brief spec of the power side of things;

RS injectors
RS spark plugs
Dreamscience decat
Dreamscience hybrid turbo (turbo X)
Piper catback
Magnex downpipe
Airtec plenum
Airtec intercooler
Pro Alloy cold pipe
Super size air filter
Roose inlet hose & intercooler pipework
RS oil cooler

Good for 352bhp and 435Ib/ft

Depends what your goal is power wise - stage 3 is great for all round use

Robs is definitely an amazing example of how an ST should be.

Boost control solenoids can pack up giving little or no boost.

Other thing to look out for is cracked blocks giving misfire on hot start.

I have replaced an engine on an ST for this problem, not sure how common it is.
Would misfire then clear on hot start, removed plugs, one had signs of coolant contamination.. removed head cylinder 1 had a crack about 10mm deep in the top of the bore. New motor from Ford about Ł3k.

It's expensive kit, but the Mountune 260ps cars go very well IMO.

As mentioned above and something I forgot off my PM was the boost solenoid

I have only ever fitted 1 standard replacement just as a precaution- never had one go on me.

Now run an uprated iPD version and its alot better and gets rid of the Ford rubbish.

Cheers for the praise Carlos

Shut it Richie lol.

GVK, was it the block or the liners that cracked?

Heard about liners cracking but never seen any one post teu had it happen. What causes it? Poor cooling?

You would call it the liner, but on these engines they are integral to the block (not removable)

No idea what caused it but on this particular car had Bluefin and other mods.

(which were removed before bringing it in with fault)

Have had a couple with the spazzy gauges playing up, mostly cured with map sensor.
Gauges get info via CAN from ECU.

Am I correct in thinking that the gauges don't have a direct sensor but get the readings from others and from that can make the correct readings?

Yep, that's how it works. 'calculated' Info gets sent from ECU/dash via CAN network.

by the sounds of it the ecu gets all the info then feeds the info to the dash i.e gauges ect through canbus

Yeah the boost gauge is quite away out alot of the time;

Here is the direct comparison between my stack gauge and standard boost gauge

I can understand about boost gauge getting info from map sensor - ECU but as there's no oil temp sensor on the engine, it must calculate the oil temp via coolant temp etc? Guesswork basically.

Not sure on that but not fitting aftermarket temp gauges - going for AFR gauge next then thats it for me gauge wise

I had one day when oil temp was cold and pressure was max even once warm. That was on way to work, on way home it was fine and has been since. Duff signal? Did read pulling the kam fuse or disconnecting the battery for half hour can sort it some times. But map or maf sensor failure can also
Be at fault.
