Best Sparkplugs for a 200bhp S1 with NOS
Drop the lads at sparkplugs.co.uk a line and ask them, they are normally shit hot on recomendations for modified engines.
has the standard rotor arm got a brass resistor in it, if so i would remove that
nitrous is very intense on spark plugs, its quite a dense charge to be trying to ignite.

cheers mate!!not sure about the brass resistor mate...how would i know AND if i dump that...what do i replace it with?!?!
Get a resistance meter out and measure the resistance across the rotor arm, if its not almost exactly zero, then its probably got the resistor in it.
Get a dremel out and remove it all, then solder in a flat bit of copper or something similar that conducts much better, then epoxy resin over it to make sure it stays in one piece.
Ill try and dig out an article with pictures on it, as my mate took pictures when he did i think.
Back in a few mins mate.

About halfway down the page mate, its not about a CVH motor, its about a calibra turbo one, but the same applies.

I had a part time job in halfords on the ripspeed desk once, some of the lads are extremely bright, some of them arent, same as any other company really.
They dont stock low resistance plugs though or protracted nose ones generally, although could probably order them in, but the prices wouldnt compete with sparkplugs.co.uk

keith thats not a fooking nice comment
all of halfords prices on plugs aint that hot and as for modified cars then ya ainmtn got a chance unless ya want TIM gauges and wings west bodykits
listen to chip as hes not been wrong on anything so far
keith ya might also have to remove ya clear dizzy cap though
, not kidding either

just got this back from the spark plug experts :
The standard part for the RS Turbo is quite good for nitrous use as it's non
projected and quite a cold heat range. Part number is BCR8ES. There are
stronger race plug equivalents which should last a lot longer and perform
better under load, NGK Iridium racing R7434-8 and Denso IK01-24, if you feel
you need to use a colder plug then you could try NGK R7434-9 or Denso
IK01-27, all of these have Iridium centre electrode and solid platinum
ground electrode, expensive though at around Ł25+vat per plug.
so standard plugs are ok then!!?!? what are they called?!?

keith dont use the iridium plugs mate there not a good plug mate
have ya tried asking kenny or mark shead as they play with nitrous and ask there advice too
i know that stu took my iridiums out of my cossie and replaced em for 071's as he didnt rate em and said to try and buy the platinum plugs but ya cant get em anymore
also ask burtons for advice too

Different engines seem to get on better with different plugs, i obvioulsy cant comment on why you were told by stu not to run them on your motor but ive had great success with iridium plugs on nitrous, in fact on my 2.0 16v vauxhall motor ive run increases of 100% power using nitrous on iridium plugs and its never missed a beat and still idled perfectly, never needed a plug change in 18 months use like that and they were still working perfectly.
But different people always seem to have their favourites with plugs, a bit like how some people always prefer spax to koni or vice versa just cause its what has worked for them.
hopefully Stu can give some input as to why he doesnt like the iridium plugs??

no think its a personal thing as ya said, the densos ive seen people use alot and loive em, there a good plug for the money but thyen others dont agree and say they had missfires ect
then in saying that others also have different driving styles too that makes a difference alot aswell
i wasnt saying the guys wrong was sugesting he speaks to a few people who use nitrous on cars and discuss with them, i personally know fook all about the site but just cause the theory is there dont mean that its always the case if ya get what i mean

The denso ones are far from perfect on paper, the ngk iridiums look better for example, just due to less resistance, but my own experience with the denso's has been that they have been fantastic and i have no problem feeling confident recomending them.
ya get what i mean then
take c59's or might be C57's for cossies, therea good plug as far as temps gpo and miss fires on boost go but in general they have a shit idle and they dont last long, but who cares as they cost fook all, just the idle that people dont like
then again its always best to stick with the advice of ya tuner hence why i never batted a eye lid and let stu do what he thought was right for my cossie
keith ya welcome to my iridium plugs if ya want a set as i aint got any use for em

I took yours out as they were the wrong heat range Ginge, not because they were a bad product.
After a long chat with NGK Racing's technical department they admitted they fooked up and the iridium replacements for the 9s were actually unsuitable. I posted the E-Mail up on here yonks ago... was an interesting topic, included Jim Green i recall

Sounds ideal then Stu if yo know those are up to the job, you cant beat firsthand experience!
Still look at doing that rotor arm mod though if applicable keith, it noticeabley improves spark strength, by a measurable amount, its not just a gimmick
