Coming back through Kent in solid snow on the M25 last night I saw a car on the hard shoulder up ahead and instinctively pulled out into the middle lane to give him as much room as possible.
Noticed what looked like a red cats eye on the right edge of my lane, about 50 metres before the broken-down car. As I got closer I could make out what looked like a bit of snow drifting on the right side of my lane...
Then I saw this pair of huge fook-off antlers...
The red was the reflection off its eyes (what was left of them anyway).
Car in the hard shoulder was a '54 plate Volvo S60 (looked almost brand new) - it'd taken this big old deer on the driver's side - as I passed I could see the bonnet was /\-shaped, headlight missing, and I think the screen was smashed.
Gonna be expensive
Deer must've been a good 350-400 lbs.
I would have hit it if I'd been in the outside lane - there was a good inch of snow. No chance I'd have managed to get round it, not even at the speed limit.
Watch out for yourselves in the shit weather!
