Default adjustable cam pulleys and cam timing

Ive just bought a second hand engine which has piper vernier pulleys and the cam timing has been set to the engine builders spec.
The problem ive got is i want to change the pulleys, possibly to cdf racing ones and am wondering how accurate the markings are on the pulleys?
If its a case that the gauges on the pulleys are not good enough to set the timing on can anybody point me in the direction of a cam timing guide?i know the basics but need a step by step guide to follow.
cheers

Why do you need to change the pulleys? I'd leave well alone.

You would need to know what cams you have in the engine. Then you can get the timing specs from the cam makers website, well, hopefully.

You will most prob need a dial gauge too.
