Can anyone shed any light on this for me.

Need a new tank as mine leaks like mad, looking into ordering one and the two places ive found them both state the later 90 spec cars having a smaller hole for the sender ? Other thing is i can only seem to find the tanks with the larger 4.5'' hole for the sender. With mine being a 91 you can bet your last pound its the smaller type!!!!

Need to take my tank off first but if i do that i cant use my mates ramp as it cant sit there waiting for a tank to be delivered. I wanted to get one ordered before we get it on the ramp really.

Is there any way in finding out bar taking it off ? Is there not some sort of access panel where the rear seats are i cant remember to be honest ?

theres no access panel under the rear seats mate, drop it down and have a look takes 15min on your back dude.

A mates got a mint tank thats never been fitted so going to try that as its free but im still not sure its the right one ive not dropped my tank yet. He says its only the efi ones that have the smaller hole on the top but ill soon find out

Are you sure of this as there is only one tank listed for all RS turbo's and the tank with the smaller hole im lead to believe is for the 90 spec 3i's which were full efi.

Bloody hope not or im fucked because i havnt seen one for sale anywhere, the only person to mention them was mr FRS-199 as he has some on order but want it sorting so i can drive to squires cafe on the 1st.

How did you get on ? ( i know this is an old thread) but I've got a similar situation. I've got a changeover year RS turbo (1989). It's pretty much 90 spec throughout, and my tank is leaking. I'm reluctant to drop the tank and then have to put it back (to be safe), and then order..... there seems to be no other way than do that.... unless someone knows better (which i'm sure they do )

 

You need an MFI tank for use with an external pump, all Escort RST's are MFI... Later XR3i's where EFI with an in tank pump not RST's.

 

88 spec...bigger sender hole

90 spec have a smaller hole...but with the rs turbos being old, you can never tell what tank you have untill you take it off
