Default Mondeo or vectra?

Ok so I bought a 2002 mondeo zetec-a tdci back in September, since then I have replaced 4 wheel bearings, had dmf and clutch changed, had an injector changed, new crankshaft sensor, handbrake tightened, my abs light is on(I think it needs a new rear bearing to fix that) and it needs new crank pulley and tensioner. I am also needing new tyres and disks+pads. As you can imagine I am pretty pissed off with the thing seen as it hasn't even ticked to 70k miles yet so I am looking to get rid, but first I want to know if you think I should get rid or if you think I am coming out of a storm? If I am getting rid I want something similar in both size and power, so I'm think 2004 vectra 2.2 dti Sri? What's your opinion on those? What should I look out for? Coming problems with them? Or if you can think of another car that's quite similar at around the same price let me know. Thanks a million for any replies I get.

sounds like you bought it just before all these things needed doing, and the previous owner knew it. I'd keep it, at least you know now it's a sorted car. Vectra's are awful!

A 2.2 dti Vectra is a very poor choice, first it's a Vauxpoo and second, the cam chain has a habit of snapping, lunching the entire engine. The chain won't last past 100k and apparently it's so expensive to do, you're better off scrapping the car when it gets to time to change it. It's a known issue but Vauxpoo won't acknowledge that it should ever be replaced.

Oh for god sake, were any good diesel cars made between 2002-2005? I'm only 20 so insurance is only just affordable on these kind of cars, what other options do I have guys? I want one similar size, power, price and has to be diesel. Fucking cars.

the 1.9 vectra cdti is the better engine and its faster more powerfull unit than the 2.2
for that size car you'd be better with a octavia 1.9 tdi imo

I've been saying it for years, Mondeo TDCi will end up costing more to run in the long run, than a V6. You buy them thinking it will save you money on fuel/insurance, by the time it's needed the injectors and DMF changing, which it will, it's a case of if, not when, when you balance out the costs, there not cheap. And this coming from someone who has had five mondeo's, love them, and have driven them for 15 years

Wow thanks for all the replies, I know I'm being picky but the zetec-s has the sporty edge that I like, I have considered an Octavian but I can't find a sport model, what's the sport one called?
