I have a similar 1 fitted to my car that i clean out every time i service the car, 3-4,000miles... once or twice its had some bits of debris (some metallic and some not ie carbon etc) in there, so i guess its hard to say really, i mean if the bits of debris etc got into the turbo bearings how much damage would they cause, they have obviously gone round my engine at some point...?
Pointles if you're looking after the car properly. And if you're not then slap yourself and start doing so. These toys aren't an alternative for proper maintainance.
Not saying you don't service it or look after it BTW

Well my engine was a 60k 2nd hand frst engine, but i would imagine any engine is going to get some sludge etc in the oil system...
I think they are an excellent idea for preventing damage to the turbo.

I had the autospecialists 1 with the new braided oil line, the shape of the fitment at the turbo and block wasn't exactly the same as the orig ford oil feed, it wouldn't stop leaking. So I thought I know, I will just fit the filter at the turbo. made sure it was tight etc, a week or so later it came loose and spewed oil all over a very hot turbo, thankfully I limped the car to a mates who was a minute or so away otherwise it was gonna be the breakdown truck.
Mines sat in my oil drain pan if anybody wants it. ??
I like the idea of a filter and cr turbos advised I fit one with my new turbo, but unless somebody came up with something better I would stick to a yearly oil change or every 3000miles whichever comes first.
