Default BFGoodrich Rally Tarmac Tires 16 Inch - Help

Hello,

I am trying to find a tire dealer that carries BFG Tarmac tires. Specifically the 16inch size that fits on the RS 200 Tarmac Rims I have.

BFG USA doesn't import the 16inch Tarmac Rally tire only the 17s and 18s

I found one company in the UK that is listed as a dealer but I have sent 5 emails to their sales department with no reply..

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The tire I need is this one: 255/40-16 TL A0

Thanks!
Mike

I am totally open to suggestions...but I need to find a Rally Tarmac Tire that will fit on a 16 inch Diameter by 9 inch wide rim.

The car is a 1997 Ford Cosworth Escort WRC Group A Spec.

Any suggestions?

yes you have the wrong wheels, get 17 x 8's and pirelli's if your somewhere the temp is 5 to 15 c or michelin's if your somewhere hotter.

yea... I can go that route but I have 8 Speedline 2 piece tarmac rims (from an RS200)... I would prefer not to have to buy rims and tires...

They will lead to a whole world of problems if you plan to use them in competition.

That size far too small and wide. You'll ring or snap driveshafts, and go though cv's, wheel bearings and bushings like they are going out of fashion. They will be very hard of the diff's too. Have you used the group A car before?

Yes but only gravel not tarmac...first tarmac rally is on April 20th.

The previous owner used similar tires in the past for the Mount Washington - Climb to the Clouds event.

They would be ok on gravel, (washington is gravel, yes?) You would actually find a narrower tire works better on gravel, less area more bite. The group N evo's I run all use 15x 7's on gravel. On tarmac it just wouldn't work, get some compomotive mo5 or mo6's

Washington is 90% tarmac.

We run 225/65 on 15 inch rims for gravel

The car is mostly WRC spec. Transmission, diffs etc. (front diff is 7.5 inch, rear is 9 inch) much bigger than the Group N Cosworths.

I have a set of slicks we are going to test in a week or so...they are 255... so we will see.

None of the suppliers we use do a 255 40 16, coming to think about it the rs200 didn't use those wheels for rallying either they used a smaller single piece wheel. Those wheels are from the rs200 evo road car.
