Default 195/45 or 205/40?

Hey people I'm waiting on my rims coming back from being powdercoated and I'm thinking about tyres.

I've got 2x new prada's in 205/40/16 and two extra ones will cost me around 200.

Been looking at a set of 4 195/45/16 T1-R's a guy selling for around 190.

Not sure what to do as I could always sell the pradas for 80-100 surely? Just not sure what to do now? Most people seem to run the 205/40's but I'm sure 195's would be fine I can remember them being a nicer drive when I had them on my old 16's I swapped from a 205/40 but that was due to clearance issues on my slammed saxo-shamefull yes I know lol!!!!

What are the Pradas like as a tyre never used them before?

What do you think?

Regards
Chris

what size are the wheels. 6.5j has 195 width 7j has 205 width on a S1/S2.

Id say 205 is better all round.

I've run 205/45/16, 215/40/16 and im now on 195/45/16 due to financies when i needed new tyres, the 195s are significantly cheaper than the 215s... All Toyo T1Rs!

The 215s provided the greatest grip but i used to get some arch rubbing at the rear when 4 or 5up, the 195s do break slightly sooner than the 215s would as theres 20mm less tread width on each tyre touching the road...

The 215s looked best on the rims aswell!

I will be swapping back to 215s as they are my preferred choice, i will have to trim a little of the rear archs to accomodate them!

That offset isn't really right for your car mate so you will almost certainly have clearance issues with the 205's and quite possibly even with the 195's

They came of an Escort so ill just have to see how I go now to be fair. There only going to sit 7mm further out and I've removed some 10mm spacers which were fitted to the standard wheels, my cars not stupidly low either. Fingers crossed now
